This course is designed to introduce you to the truly amazing subject of Nutritional Therapy. You may ultimately plan to practice as a therapist, or you may undertake the course because you would like to improve your own health or that of your family, or you may work in an environment that requires you to be able to offer sound nutritional advice to others. Whichever category you fit into, the knowledge you gain from this course can help you and others live a healthier and potentially longer life. Not only is nutritional therapy used to treat current health problems, it is usually the best form of preventative medicine.
This programme will take you further than just basic nutrition, delving a little into the world of biochemistry. Don't worry if chemistry is not your strong point. This is not the chemistry you learn in a science class but the way in which the body interacts with nutrients. It is a fascinating science in itself and its inclusion in the course is aimed to help you gain a deeper understanding of the effects nutrients have in the body. You will not be expected to be an expert in biochemistry at the end of this programme
This course conforms to the Core Curriculum of the Nutritional Advisors Register (NAR) and also forms the first part of the Core Curriculum of the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC). On successful completion of this course the student will be eligible to enrol for the next level of the full Nutritional Therapy qualification. They will also, subject to sitting the NAR's formal examination, be able to join the NAR.
