Chinese medicine views a healthy body as one in which life energy is balanced and flowing freely through fourteen invisible channels called meridians. Twelve channels are directly connected with the body’s internal organs, while two channels deal with important circulatory functions. When vital energy becomes imbalanced ( too weak or too strong) or stagnated in the channels, the body develops troubles; vitally drops and discomfort and sickness may occur.

Energy tends to stagnate in specific points along the channels called acupoints. There are hundreds of acupoints in the human body. When energy is blocked in an acupoint, it becomes sensitive to pressure. The acupoints are pressed to stimulate the movement of stagnated energy as well as to diagnose the presence of disease.

Understanding Illness

From observing nature the theory of traditional natural healing has developed. The ancient Chinese teachers and physicians set up a medical system which patterned itself on nature’s ways. It was discovered that everything is constantly changing. The changes were predictable and from this came the laws of Yin and Yang, the governing forces within the universe. The ancients saw that energy circulated in a distinct pattern from organ to organ within the body, the way a river flows within it’s banks on its voyage from the mountain to the sea. This vital energy moved from organ to organ animating each one, giving it the fuel to function.

Our Body Clock System – Every organ in our body takes active role at given time of the day. If any illness or disease happen in the body the related organ can be treated at the time given below.

1. LUNG
energy flow – body to hand
active – 3-5am

2. LARGE INTESTINE
energy flow – hand to head
active – 5-7am

3. STOMACH
- energy flow – head to foot
- active – 7-9am

4. SPLEEN
- energy flow – foot to body
- active – 9-11am

5. HEART
- energy flow – body to hand
- active – 11am-1pm

6. SMALL INTESTINE
- energy flow – hand to head
- active – 1-3pm

7. URINARY BLADDER
- energy flow – head to foot
- active – 3-5pm

8. KIDNEY

11. GALL BLADDER

Any obstruction of this flow in vital energy created problems. In order to cure the problem, balance had to be re-established.
