Rishikesh

Rishikesh represents the Gateway to the Himalayas. Located in the lap of lower Himalayas, the Chandrabhaga stream merges with the holy river Ganges. Millions of Hindus take a holy dip every year with the firm belief of erasing past sins. Rishikesh is surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides with Holy Ganges flowing through it.The whole place is considered to be sacred as it is believed that meditation at this place leads to attachment of salvation. There are many temples some ancient, some new along the river Ganges. Rishikesh has developed into one of the better known centers for school of yoga and meditation. It is also well known for several religious retreats and for the availability of treatment for a variety of stress induced ailment using meditation practices and ancient herbal techniques.

Ganges River

India is probably the only country in the world where the river is bestowed the status of a goddess. In a country where Hindus follow practices strictly according to scriptures, ancient scripts say that Ganges come to earth from heaven and started flowing. Since centuries, the holy Ganges has been regarded as most sacred and worshipped by people. Many centers of pilgrims are also located on the bank of the holy river. It is believed that the sacred virtue of the river increases manifold when it flows through these pilgrimage destination. It is common in India to see people taking holy dips, bathing and performing rituals on the bank of the holy river. Even the dead are cremated on its banks with the hope that their souls shall attain salvation.

Haridwar

Haridwar, which literally means the gateway to the Gods is regarded as one of the seven holiest places of Hinduism. It is believed that Gods left their footprints in Haridwar. Haridwar has one of the most sacred ghats named Har Ki Pauri. Many religious rituals are performed regularly on the ghats. This includes the famous Ganges Aarti on the ghats after which thousands of earthen lamps are set afloat in the waters.

White Water Rafting

The sacred river Ganges offers the professional as well as the amateur the exhilaration of white water rafting which is an extreme and never ending thrill in the untamed river. The rivers in the upper Himalayas are among the best in the world for river rafting sports, with many staircase rapids that challenges the body. Most of the rapids are easily negotiable and some require our expertise. The exhilarating Alaknanda and Bhagirathi river near Rishikesh have become a popular stretch for white water rafting.

Trekking

Trekking has been one of the popular activities in the Himalayas. These majestic mountains have been attracting mountaineers all over the world and offers excellent opportunities to serious trekkers and, mountaineers.

ITINERARY SEPTEMBER 2006


DAY 1 – 17th September 2006
KUL / DELHI / RISHIKESH
We will be met and transferred to Rishikesh by A/C coach – Journey is 6 hours from Delhi to Rishikesh

DAY 2 – 18th September 2006
Rishikesh – Haridwar – Rishikesh
A full day tour sightseeing and visiting Ashrams and Temples

DAY 3 – 19th September 2006
Rishikesh
Enjoy full day trekking 6 – 7 hours at the Himalayas

DAY 4 – 20th September 2006
Rishikesh
White water rafting. Charity work in the evening.

DAY 5 – 21st September 2006
Rishikesh
Spend a full day at Devprayag, a very scenic area, this is where the confluence of the rivers Bhagirathi and Alkananda making the Ganges river

DAY 6 – 22nd September 2006
Rishikesh – Delhi
Morning drive back to Delhi and check in at Hotel Swathi. In the afternoon, free time for shopping

DAY 7 – 23rd September 2006
Delhi
City tour of Old and New Delhi – full day

DAY 8 – 24th September 2006
DELHI / KUL
Depart to Kuala Lumpur


The package includes the following:

5.All three meals at Rishikesh if taken at the Ashram.
